Carer Friendly Customer CareThere has never been a better time to recognise your efforts in ensuring Carers are welcomed and valued within your business. This award is for those businesses who have taken a small step to improve the way you interact with Carers who use your service. You may be offering a discount, have thought about how you connect with Carers or have made a change to improve Carers’ experience because you understand the challenges faced by Carers within your local community. This is about doing something to make their day brighter. As a Carer, the business you are nominating may have offered you a discount, a warm welcome or spent some time trying to help you. If you feel that a business has given you great customer care, nominate them today.
Carer Friendly EmployerCaring whilst juggling work can be challenging for most people, we want to celebrate those businesses who are helping their workforce to find a better balance. As an employer you may have put into place some small steps that means that support is available for colleagues who are caring for a loved one outside of work, this support has resulted in better retention of staff, happier and healthier workforce, and a more proactive workplace. As a Carer you feel supported and valued as both an employee and Carer and as a result of the support, information or simply better understanding you have found a better balance. If your workplace is supporting you, nominate them to say thank you.
The Carers ChampionDo you have a work colleague who goes above and beyond to ensure Carers are valued in the workplace? Have they invested time to ensure you can access information and support? Does your line manager understand that you are balancing work and caring and has worked to allow you flexibility in your working week?
Carer Friendly DementiaFor 2021, we’re introducing a Business Award for those organisations who have made a real difference for carers, caring for a loved one with dementia. It is for individuals and organisations who might have recognised a need in their community and have begun offering a valued additional service, such as a dementia café, or reminiscence events – perhaps a venue that loved-ones frequented in the past and that still holds fond memories, just made that bit more special and welcoming.
Carer Friendly Autism/ADHDThis award is for those businesses, organisations, healthcare settings and community centres who are making small changes to ensure the autistic/ADHD (neurodiverse) community who are visiting, working, or interacting within the space are welcomed, understood, and valued. You may be a Partner Carer and your local coffee shops welcome you and child and offers a quiet space or adapts the menu to ensure your visit is relaxing and stress free. Your workplace may have adapted your work routine or workstation, so it is easier to focus and work, with less noise or brightness. Whatever the reason, nominate them today and thank them for making a difference.
Making a DifferenceThis special recognition award will be chosen by Forward Carers and will go to the business or individual that we feel has made a significant difference in the Caring Community. All nominations will be reviewed under this award.
Have you been positively impacted by a business? Maybe a local corner shop or café always goes out of their way to welcome you? Or maybe your employer understands that you are caring for someone and allows you to work flexibly? Maybe your GP practice supports you as a Carer and you want to acknowledge them? Maybe you want to nominate your own workplace or business as you can demonstrate how you are supporting Carers.Nominate Here

2020 Carer Friendly Business Awards
Rob Bhol, Managing Partner of Nicholls Brimble Bhol said:
“We were delighted and humbled at NBB to have received this award last year and to have been in the same category of such great names as Marks & Spencer and Age Concern. So many people in society are caring for a loved one at home, made even harder when they’re having to also fulfil their employment obligations. We are proud to be able to support any of our staff who have such responsibilities and to be associated with Forward Carers who provide an abundance of support to the carer community.”
