NHS Partners in Care Card –
University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) aim to identify any carer who comes into contact with the hospital and treat them as a ‘partner in care’. They value the contribution carers make to the lives of those who use the services and want to recognise and support carers whilst also making them feel welcome at the hospitals. Two carer co-ordinators are available to support and signpost carers – information about how to contact them can be found via https://www.uhb.nhs.uk/who-to-contact.htm
We appreciate that this maybe an opportunity for you to have some respite whilst your loved one recovers whilst in hospital, however we also recognise that you may want to continue to be involved in your relatives or friends care. Alongside the Partners in Care scheme already available across the trust; Birmingham Carers Hub and UHB have developed the “Partners in Care” Card which is issued to those people who are having a significant impact on the support given to the person they are supporting whilst in hospital.
The Card will give time limited added benefits to the family member or friend identified whilst they are supporting with the physical and mental care of their loved one.
If you are caring for a loved one and they are taken into hospital, you can get in touch with the Carer co-ordinators:
