Welcome to Birmingham Carers Hub

Caring for a family member or friend? If you support someone in Birmingham who needs your help due to a disability, serious illness, frailty or addiction, we’re here to help YOU. Whatever your unpaid  caring role, you’ve come to the right place.

We’re a partnership of local not-for-profits who have come together as Birmingham Carers Hub to provide a wide range of free support to help you in your caring role.
Birmingham Carers Hub is funded and commissioned by Birmingham City Council and BSOL Integrated Care Board.

Meet Bridgit your Carers Virtual Assistant …. Birmingham Carers Hub in your pocket.

Caring for someone can be hard, and it’s tough to find the help you need when you’re busy. There’s so much information available that it’s confusing to know where to begin.

That’s why we’ve created a special tool that gives you the information you need when you need it, customised for the needs of carers. Access Bridgit here.

Are you a Carer?

Many people support a friend or loved one who relies on them, without realising their role has an official name, unpaid Carer. In fact, it takes on average two years for someone to realise they are classed as a Carer. While you will always be first and foremost a spouse, sibling, child or friend, recognising you are also a Carer means you will be able to access support and services to help you in your life and caring role.

The charts show number of carers in the UK and who they care for (percentage)

If you are a Carer and your caring role has an impact on your life, you have a right to a Statutory Carer’s Assessment under the Carer Act 2014.

A Statutory Carer’s Assessment is a discussion with you that will help us understand the physical, emotional and practical impact that caring has on your life and to ensure you can access appropriate support services to help maintain your wellbeing. You can find out more and book your Carers Assessment here.
