Free Training for Carers
We understand that in your caring role you may encounter situations you don’t feel prepared for. And that as your role changes, the skills you need to carry it out may change too. Our two free training courses– First Aid For Carers and Moving and Handling the Person You Care For -will give you the skills you need to carry out your role safely and with confidence. Both courses are suitable whether you care for an adult or child.
First Aid For Carers:
Sadly, older people and those with special needs can be particularly vulnerable to accidents and injuries. This course is for carers and parent carers who want to learn what to do in the event of an accident or emergency.
You will learn a range of practical skills for how to deal with injuries and illness, from treating a minor fall to a major head injury and how to look after someone who is fitting. You will also learn the technical skills and confidence to perform CPR.
Moving and handling the person you care for
Safe moving and handling is essential to making sure that you don’t injury yourself or the person you care for. Most common injuries carers experience are back injuries whereas the effects of accidentally mis-handling a loved one can lead to cuts, bruises or neck and shoulder injuries.
