Solihull Carers Centre is the lead organisation for carers in Solihull and is supported by Solihull Council. They provide emotional support, information and advice and assistance to those providing unpaid care. Solihull Carers Centre supports all age groups:
- Young Carers, aged 5 – 18 years
- Young Adult Carers, aged 18 – 24 years
- Adult Carers, aged 25 and over
- All services are confidential.
The Young Carers Team offers day trips out, mini holidays, weekend and school holiday activities and monthly club sessions. As well as all this we offer one to one support, advice, help to find other services that can support young carers and we can speak to people on your behalf or help you with what you want to say.
The Young Adult Carers Team is a new service which offers activities, training, advice and guidance to Young Adult Carers aged 18-25 years. They provide free and confidential information, advice and guidance, as well as holding one to one and group support sessions. We aim to help carers identify and access their future goals and aspirations, encouraging independence and decreasing isolation.
The Adult Carers Team offers a telephone support line which includes emotional support, advice and information and signposting to additional organisations. We support carers caring for people with a range of health issues and we have support workers focussed on learning disabilities and special educational needs. We also carry out carers assessments and reviews. Face to face support can be arranged and we hold drop in sessions and carers support groups throughout the borough. As well as this we offer events and activities and carers views meetings. Once registered, carers will also receive a carers identification card.
