My caring journey started at a young age when my father became critically ill. I had to put my personal priorities on the sideline and became a full-time care provider for him. Sadly, my father did not survive the illness, but my journey has carried on ever since looking after my mother, mother-in-law, and currently my husband.

I have learned that as Carers we must be compassionate, considerate, and never compromise the dignity or independence of the person that we provide care for. The journey has been tough and demanded sacrifices, but it’s been rewarding and satisfying too.

I wanted my experience to benefit other Carers, so I have been trained as a First Aider for Mental Health and a Carer Mentor. As a Mentor for Carers I am their first port of call should they need any information, support or just a friendly ear. I also facilitate for a group of Carers known as CUBS based at the Buddhist Centre in Moseley.

I have taken on the role of Ambassador for Forward Carers to serve as a bridge between the Carers and care services. I keep myself actively busy and find happiness in gardening.
