Anjum Khan, director of Asian Business Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), part of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) has joined Forward Carers as a non-executive director.

We are delighted to welcome Anjum to our board of directors. Anjum has helped us judge our Carer Friendly Business Awards over the last couple of years and has first-hand experience being an unpaid family carer.

Speaking about her new appointment, Anjum Khan said:

“The reason for me joining this board is that as an unpaid carer, I tapped into the support they were offering during Covid for my father. “I had not realised that there is support available for people who fit under the bracket of ‘unpaid carers’.

“In my role, I want to highlight the free support available to carers from Birmingham Carers Hub and Walsall Carers Hub. I also want to raise awareness of the support available from Forward Carers to workplaces such as Corporate Carer Aware Training, the Carer Friendly Employer Commitment Mark and Carer Friendly Business Awards.”

Forward Carers CEO Simon Fenton said:

“I’m delighted Anjum has agreed to join our Board as a new director at Forward Carers CIC. Anjum’s knowledge and experience will be a real asset as we implement our future growth plan to create carer friendly communities.

“From her personal experience, Anjum knows the rewards and challenges of juggling both work and caring for a family member. Her insights will be invaluable in helping us on our mission to make the world a better place for Carers.”

We are passionate about creating carer friendly communities and are looking forward to working with Anjum to help us achieve this goal. We hope Anjum’s knowledge and experience will help Forward Carers reach more businesses to encourage them to sign up to our Corporate Carer Aware Training, the Carer Friendly Employer Commitment Mark and consider joining our Carer Friendly ID scheme.
