We’re excited to announce that Forward Carers, in partnership with Bridgit Care, has been awarded the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) award for Outstanding Tech and Digital Business of the Year for our online support for Carers!

As the largest Chamber of its kind in the region, the ABCC provides a gateway for organisations looking to engage with the West Midlands Asian business community, offering diverse business support and networking opportunities. The awards, held on November 18th at the National Conference Centre, recognised excellence and innovation in Greater Birmingham, the Black Country, and Coventry & Warwickshire.

Bridgit Cares for Carers
In the domain of digital support for family Carers, the Bridgit service set us apart. Our emphasis on supporting the diverse Birmingham population, ensures that our service is not just technologically advanced but culturally sensitive and inclusive to all communities. 31% of Birmingham’s population identify their ethnic group as ‘Asian, Asian British or Asian Welsh’, and with 1 in 4 houses in Birmingham home to a Carer, we were able to demonstrate how our online support for Birmingham Carers has a significant positive impact on the Asian community alongside our fantastic Birmingham Carers Hub service.

Caring for someone who relies on you can bring a range of challenges. Finding the right information to support you shouldn’t be another one. That’s why Forward Carers and Bridgit Care have jointly launched Bridgit for Birmingham Carers, an online self-help and support service offering that puts knowledge in the hands of Carers, that speaks to all communities.

Bridgit offers support tailored to each Carer, drawing on their unique situation and needs to deliver personalised and local support that includes:

  • personalised self-help plan
  • support emails
  • multi-channel communication for regular check-ins
  • smart forms for self-service assessments
  • a robust referral and integration system
  • digital directory, which offers real-time advice, local services, and event listings specific to the user’s location, e.g., ‘Chai and Chat’.

Bridgit’s ideas and advice for Carers to try are presented as a tailored self-help plan which is available in seconds and targets support across five areas of wellbeing – Health and Wellbeing, Your Caring Role, Employment, Finance and Myself.  Carers who register for Bridgit can access support immediately.

As one Carer for their mum and sister expressed, “So far, I’ve learned about so much out there I had no idea about. Absolutely invaluable. Thank you so much.”

We won’t stop here:

This ABCC award acknowledges Forward Carers and Bridgit Care’s dedication to providing exceptional digital solutions and support for Carers. As we celebrate, we also remain committed, to champion Carers, provide support, and continue developing, connecting, and growing together. Thanks to the ABCC for this honour, and to all Carers who inspire us daily with their dedication. We’re here to support Carers in the way that works for them – whether that’s online, in person, in print or by telephone.
