At Forward Carers, we are committed to being impact-driven in everything we do. That means not only improving outcomes for unpaid Carers, but also understanding and reducing our environmental footprint. This reflects our social responsibility value, aiming to leave not only the community but also our planet in a better place.
We are pleased to share a summary of our Emission Report covering 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025.
Between January and December 2025, our estimated total carbon emissions were:

This report was produced using the SME Climate Hub Carbon Calculator, providing an overview of our environmental impact as a small to medium-sized social enterprise.
How We Calculated Our Emissions
Producing this report required careful analysis of our operations.
For Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, we:
- Calculated the number of employees within our SME
- Assessed how many days per week staff work in the office
- Determined the total floor space we occupy
As we are based within Sense TouchBase Pears, we rent a small proportion of the building. This equates to approximately 2.89% of the total floor space, requiring a proportional calculation of energy usage.
We then calculated:
- The energy consumption linked to our portion of the premises
- Total fuel consumption from work-related mileage claims during 2025
This ensured that our figures reflect our actual operational footprint rather than a generic estimate.
As an organisation working across communities, travel and partnership working are essential to reaching Carers where they are. However, we also recognise our responsibility to operate sustainably and reduce environmental impact wherever possible.
This report provides a clear baseline and allows us to move from intention to action.

Over the coming year, we will focus on:

- Identifying quick-win savings across travel and energy use
- Embedding sustainability partnership discussions
- Exploring greener travel options
- Raising awareness among staff about everyday environmental choices
