In November, on Carers Rights Day, Forward Carers launched the Carers Card. The Carers Card aims to support Carers to be recognised and valued within the workplace and the community.
The card is available to Birmingham Carers Hub registered Carers for identification purposes and includes emergency contact information.
Alongside this, an online discount scheme has been introduced to bring further benefits both to carers and businesses. As well as being a great tool for increasing visibility and grabbing carers’ attention, a discount scheme can act as a small token of recognition for the importance of the caring role, and do something to alleviate its impact on household finances.
This scheme will be introduced across the city and will eventually be incorporated into local communities, businesses and within local NHS hospital and GPs meaning that Carers like you will be better supported at an earlier stage, with positive consequences for your health, wellbeing and financial security.
This means that if you’re caring for someone, local services and systems will remove obstacles and make sure things are done differently so your life is a little bit easier.
