As Carers, it can be challenging to stay connected to friends, family and the wider community when our time is shaped by the needs of loved ones. Yet, making time to connect with others is vital for good wellbeing and, after all, the better we feel, the better we can support those we care for.

This year, Carers Week (10 – 16 June) is about Getting Carers Connected. Here are some simple ways to strengthen your existing connections and make new ones during Carers Week and throughout the year.

Connect to Information, Advice and Services:

Register with Birmingham Carers Hub. You are entitled to a statutory Carers Assessment and Review where we can discuss your caring support needs as well as your personal ambitions. We can also connect you to other services, activities and entitlements that would be of benefit to you. Remember, there is also lots of information and advice available HERE or give us a call on 0333 006 9711.

Connect to friends, family and other Carers

While it’s important to build up your connections the whole year around, Carer Week is an opportunity to get started.

…and what a perfect opportunity it is!

With multiple Carer friendly events happening each and every day of Carers Week this is the perfect time to build contacts with other Carers in and around Birmingham.

“Sometimes a few words from someone who understands your situation can be a lifeline”

Below is a non-exhaustive list of just some of the Carer friendly events happening across the City with lots of opportunities to build connections locally with people who understand.
