Specialist Dementia Services for Carers Programme
In July 2019, Forward Carers was commissioned by Birmingham City Council, BSOL CCG and the Children’s Trust to operate and deliver Birmingham Carers Hub, the service for unpaid Carers in Birmingham. A key element of the service is specialist provision for Carers supporting someone with Dementia. These services will seek to provide person centred support service for Carers of people with Dementia, being responsive to all stages of the caring journey and be flexible and responsive to changes in circumstances.
As part of the commitment to further develop an integrated pathway for Carers and deliver the best services for Carers collaboratively with other organisations, Forward Carers would like to invite Voluntary and Community Sector organisations to apply for funding to deliver specialist services for Carers supporting someone with Dementia, under the following priority areas:
- Lot 1 – Provision of Carer Support Groups and facilitation
- Lot 2 – Provision of Carer dementia training
- Lot 3* – Assistive Technology – Technological solutions with support carers supporting someone with Dementia
For Lot 3* (Assistive Technology) only, we will consider any organisation type that has a strong demonstrable commitment to supporting people with dementia.
The anticipated start date for services is April 2020.
We know that Birmingham is an exciting City to live and work in. But this also means that the environment in which we deliver services changes too. Therefore, in any funding exercise, we must take account of what is going on around us and to make sure that we are addressing gaps, rather than duplicating opportunities.
