The shortlist has been announced for this year’s Asian Business Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) Annual Dinner and Awards ceremony – and Forward Carers has been named! The awards recognise and celebrate businesses and charities across nine categories with all winners from each category being nominated for the overall business of the year award.

Forward Carers has been shortlisted in the category Outstanding Tech and Digital Business of the Year, for our amazing Online Support for Birmingham Carers via the Bridgit platform.

We know caring for a loved one comes with its own challenges. Finding the right information to support you shouldn’t be another challenge. That’s why Forward Carers and Bridgit Care has jointly launched Bridgit for Birmingham Carers, an online support service offering unparalleled access to help that puts knowledge in the hands of Carers.

Bridgit offers support tailored to the individual, drawing on their unique situation and needs to deliver personalised and locally-rooted support. Bridgit’s support for Carers includes:

  • personalised self-help plan
  • support emails
  • multi-channel communication for regular check-ins
  • smart forms for self-service assessments
  • a robust referral and integration system
  • digital directory, which offers real-time advice, local services, and event listings specific to the user’s location, e.g., ‘Chai and Chat’.

Bridgit provides personalised ideas and advice for Carers to try, presented as their own tailored self-help plan which is available in seconds and targets support across five areas of wellbeing – Health and Wellbeing, Your Caring Role, Employment, Finance, Myself.

We believe that Carers should be able to access the best support in a way that works for them. For busy Carers looking for support at their fingertips, Bridgit has been a fantastic addition to the support provided by Birmingham Carers Hub

The response from Carers has been extremely positive with people telling us:

“So far I’ve learnt about so much out there I had no idea about. Absolutely invaluable. Thank you so much”. Carer for mum and sister

“This tool brings everything together in one place and provides me with ongoing support specific to my situation.” Carer

The judging panel was chaired by Raj Kandola, director of external affairs at the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC).

He said: “The judging panel were thoroughly impressed with the calibre of applicants for this year’s awards and it was a very tough process to pick winners from such an outstanding group of businesses and individuals. I’d like to congratulate all of the shortlisted applicants for not only going above and beyond in their roles but also playing a very important part in making our region a fantastic place to start and grow a business.”

The awards ceremony is set to take place on Saturday, 18 November, at The National Conference Centre in Solihull – wish us luck.
